My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Santana was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on May 21, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Santana - the smooth, soulful pup who's ready to rock your world! A little shy at first, Santana prefers a slow jam when meeting new people and places. Give him gentle vibes and calm energy, and he'll warm up faster than a guitar solo. This rockstar's heart is won with treats, toys, and a good game of fetch - he'll chase them with the enthusiasm of a lead guitarist hitting the perfect riff! Once Santana knows you, he'll trade his shy act for snuggles, pets, and all the affection he can give. Santana has had doggy friends in care, but a dog-to-dog intro on site is required to ensure he's a good match if you have a current dog in the home. Because he's a sensitive ballad at heart, he'd do best in a home without young kids under 12. With patience, love, and a steady beat, Santana could become your ultimate bandmate, cuddle companion, and best friend for life! Come meet this little rockstar today - he might just steal the spotlight in your heart!

At SDHS:
Santana has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
