My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Aztlan was brought in by his previous owner on August 9, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Aztlan - a gentle giant with an even bigger heart! This sweet, snuggly boy is on a weight-loss journey and would thrive with a balanced diet and some regular strolls (which he loves, by the way). Aztlan is crate trained and full of curious charm, always eager to be part of whatever you're doing. When it comes to other dogs, Aztlan can be a bit reactive and prefers not to share his favorite treasures - so he is looking to be your one-and-only. He has a limited positive history with cats, and can get a bit jumpy at times, so kids in the home should be over the age of 10. Aztlan does have a few allergies that will need to be managed, but don't worry - his love and loyalty are 100% hypoallergenic. If you're looking for a big, lovable buddy who's equal parts chill and charming, Aztlan is ready to be your new best friend!

At SDHS:
Aztlan has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
