Good with Cats: Not tested, but likely fine
Good with Kids: No young children – startles easily due to vision/hearing loss

Why You’ll Love Poppy:

  • Exceptionally sweet, mellow, and affectionate

  • Loves cuddling, lap time, and soft beds

  • Curious and still enjoys exploring her surroundings

  • Does a cute little “hop” into your arms when you go to pick her up

  • Good with other calm dogs and non-destructive when left alone

  • Eats well, loves chew bones, and gives sweet kisses

  • Adapts well to a gentle, predictable routine

  • Truly a “super senior” who’s grateful and loving

About Poppy’s Breed Mix:
As a terrier mix, Poppy brings the wiry charm and curiosity of her breed, but at 12 years old, she’s mellowed into a quiet, easygoing companion. Her scruffy good looks and sweet soul make her seem like a little woodland creature—uniquely adorable and full of gentle personality.

Poppy’s Story & Personality:
Poppy has had a hard past, likely living as a stray before coming into rescue, but her resilience is remarkable. Despite significant vision and hearing loss (she sees shadows and hears high-pitched sounds), she navigates well in safe, dog-proofed environments. While she can’t do steps or complex spaces, she doesn’t bump into things and is quite capable indoors—with a little help from her human friends.

She’s a velcro pup who enjoys lap time and likes to know where her person is. Poppy gives kisses freely and absolutely loves mealtime—no surprise, considering her time spent without. She explores with her nose and gets small “zoomie” bursts when she’s happy. While long walks aren’t her style, she enjoys brief potty breaks outside, stroller rides, or just lounging in the sun.

Poppy has a weak bladder and will need to urinate frequently, so she wears diapers when loose in the house. She sleeps comfortably in a pen with a puppy pad overnight. She’s currently receiving medicated baths and ear care, recovering well from skin and ear infections, and had a recent mild bout of pancreatitis (now stable with medication). Through it all, she’s gentle, cooperative, and truly resilient.

Poppy’s Ideal Home:

  • A calm, quiet household with no small children

  • Someone willing to dog-proof her space (no open stairs or tight spots she can get stuck in)

  • A gentle, nurturing human who can accommodate her physical needs

  • Someone home often, or able to give her regular outdoor potty breaks

  • A home with another calm dog is fine, but not required

Poppy is a gentle soul who needs just a bit of extra care, but what she gives in return is priceless. She’s affectionate, charming, and full of heart—and she’ll reward her person with a special kind of love that only a senior dog can offer.
