My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~THIS DOG IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE REACH OUT TO EMMET’S CURRENT OWNER AT carrie1623@comcast.net FOR MORE INFO ON HIM~~

Looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts snuggly and playful? Meet love-bug Emmett.

Emmett is believed to be a Black Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix between 2-4 years old, weighing about 50 pounds. He’s in great health and up-to-date on his vaccines, microchipped, and neutered.

Emmett is a wonderful dog who will snuggle with you all day and all night if given the chance. He definitely thinks he’s a lapdog and wants to be as close to you as he can be. He’s energetic and loves to play, chomping at the water coming out of the hose in the warmer weather and gnashing on his toys, stuffed and tuff, with equal delight when the weather is gray and drizzly. He loves to smell everything when he’s out on walks and will pull you along to get to his next sweet-smelling destination.

Emmett is very food motivated and eager to please, making him responsive to training He knows sit and touch and is very comfortable in a crate. We’re working on wait for his dinner and taking treats softly. He’d benefit from continued training with his leash manners, and in no time, we know he’ll be the best trail-walking and hiking companion.

Emmett has demonstrated that he’s not a good companion for cats, small dogs, or livestock - he has a natural prey drive. He does get along with dogs his size or bigger, but all the same, he’d truly prefer to be your one and only, getting spoiled with every ounce of love and attention just for himself!

Emmett was found as a stray and has been with us for almost a year. We would love to keep this boy in our family, but we cannot. We have kitties in our home and also have been unable to give Emmett the time and training that he needs as we’ve been caring for a terminally ill family member.

This handsome guy will thrive in a loving environment where he can bond closely with his humans. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and fun-loving companion to share your days with, Emmett might just be the one.
