My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Black and Tan Hound Seeks Loving and Luxurious New Life

Jeaux (pronounced Jo) came to AHS from a rough situation, and is really enjoying her new, good life full of love and comfort. Having been described as a thorn in her previous owner’s side, she longs for a person or family to shower her with the affection she craves and deserves.

Jeaux is anything but a thorn: this beautiful, sleek 10ish year old black and tan coonhound turns heads wherever she goes with her beautiful, smooth coat and unbelievably soft ears. She currently weighs 60lb, but is delightedly working to add weight to her long and lanky frame- she’ll probably end up looking and feeling her best at around 70lb.

Jeaux recently had dental surgery to remove the last of her teeth, which has left her with the cutest gummy mouth and a dangling tongue that sometimes seems to have a life of its own. As such, Jeaux will need a life-long diet of soft food and treats that she can manage without teeth.

Jeaux has a zest for life that she longs to share with her new forever family. She loves exploring the yard at her foster home, carefully sniffing and inspecting every leaf and blade of grass. She walks well on a leash, and is delighted to find that the world is full of so many potential friends- she has not seen another dog or person that she wasn’t excited to meet. As Jeaux’s health has improved, she has shown her fosters a goofy, playful side that will make anyone smile- her galloping zoomies are really a sight! AND she is a QUIET hound who doesn’t bay or bark much! Her fosters have only heard her bay a handful of times in the few weeks she has been in their home, and each time was adorable.

Jeaux is currently being fostered with large and small dogs, and she loves being part of a pack. She also lives with chickens and kids in her foster home, and gets along great with them all. Jeaux is a rare hound that can successfully live with cats! However, her enthusiasm for new friends means that dog-confident cats who won’t run from her would be the best fit if she were to live with a feline companion.

Jeaux is spayed, microchipped, UTD on appropriate vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained. If you’d like to learn more about adding her to your family, please fill out a Statement of Interest on our website.
