My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jessie is a delightful young girl who is sweet with a touch of spice. She is social and bonds quickly to her people but isn’t clingy though she does love to give kisses. She is intelligent and not easy to fool. She loves having new experiences.

Between playtime she is good at lying down for a snooze. She enjoys cuddling up with you on the couch and at night she sometimes sleeps on the bed as well or on a dog bed in the bedroom.
Jessie is great with people and with dogs of all sizes and is a favorite at Clubhound where off-leash dogs and people mingle. She is okay with kids. She is fine with cats as well assuming they don't mind her trying to play with them.

Because of the large number of homeless dogs, adoptions are very slow all over, and poor Jessie and her siblings have been in a kennel like environment since birth. Only recently did a foster home open up and she has proven her wonderful, adaptable personality and resilience and adjusted well. She is almost house trained, which was made harder by a bout of Giardia which was treated, and knows how to use the doggie door. She is not very experienced on leash but has been doing well. She is good in the car. She is crate trained and also uses the crate for a den.

By joining her foster mom and the dogs in her foster home, Jessie has discovered that she loves hiking and is quite the adventurer. She particularly likes frolicking in any kind of water. She would most likely do well camping, too.

She is fine with cats as well assuming they don't mind her trying to play with them.

Female. 52.6% American pit bull terrier, 23.8% German shepherd, and 23.6% American Staffordshire terrier mix.

Go meet their pets

Since we are a foster based rescue and don’t have a shelter all meet and greets must be scheduled and walk-ins are not an option. We will travel throughout the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas/states if that means the dog will find their forever home! When we host adoption/community events we will always post them on our Facebook Page Northern Star Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

We are Northern Star Dog Rescue, a completely foster based non profit dog rescue! We specifically pull all of our dogs from the euthanasia list (most are there due to no fault of their own) and dogs that are homeless or in bad housing conditions. We take them in and place them in foster homes until we can find them their forever homes! We do what we do because our team has a STRONG love for animals especially those that are in dire situations.
