Dog Day Out Review: "For the past two weekends, I’ve taken her out for some much needed decompression time, and let me tell you… I fell for this girl instantly. Starlight doesn’t thrive in a kennel setting, and because of that, she doesn’t always “show” her true self to potential adopters out of fear and the overwhelming environment she is in & because of this she is constantly over looked.but she is the most loving spunky dog once she warms up(she warmed up to me in 2seconds) She has sat in a kennel for 154 days now😕
She can be dog-selective because she prefers to be Alpha but still does like companionship of submissive dogs. Star gets a little spooked by small kids & new people(honestly, same) but none of that takes away from how truly special she is. Starlight is a genuinely wonderful dog who loves affection she just needs someone willing to see past those notches and give her the patience and space to settle in & build her confidence.
She would do best in an adoptive home with no children & no animals right now unless with submissive dogs or with a foster who can let her decompress and finally breathe. I know she has it in her to be the best girl. She just needs her chance."

Border Tails Rescue is a licensed no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of stray dogs across the world, with a unique focus on Mexico. Border Tails Rescue has a physical shelter facility with dogs on site for viewing everyday. Border Tails Rescue primarily works with rural shelters across the country, including but not limited to TX, AR, AL, LA, KY, IN, and MI on a regular basis as well as CACC, Chicago’s open intake shelter. BTR is Woman-founded by Harleigh Garcia, who was 20 years old at the time. The organization was founded in December of 2019 and Border Tails Rescue is registered with Illinois Secretary of State as a non profit organization. Border Tails Rescue operates entirely on donations and adoption fees.
