My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixi was rescued from a hoarding situation with her 2 small pups. Unfortunately, one didn’t make it, but she was a doting mother to her remaining pup Paul. Dixi was fiercely loyal to her pup and her pack (the other dogs we rescued from the same place). We think she is about 3 years old and has probably endured lots of litters. Now she’s living her best life with us.

Dixi loves getting lots of pets and will shower you with kisses. She’s very easy going and has easily integrated into our pack of bigs and littles. In fact, she MUST have a doggy companion as she does not like being left alone without supervision. She also loves to eat. She’s packed on a lot of much needed weight (maybe a bit too much), but as a nursing mother she needed that. Unfortunately food insecurity is a real and very sad thing with these dogs from the hoarding situation. But they no longer have to worry about when their next meal is coming, if at all. Dixi is good with dogs of all sizes and people plus she's housetrained and crate trained.

If you'd like to give Dixi a loving home, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org & ask for her by name!

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
