UPDATE:
Wonton has been spayed and had her left eye removed. She seems to have fair vision in her remaining eye and gets around like nothing ever happened. Like any kitten, Wonton likes to play, but would prefer to relax in a sunny spot next to her person. She reaches out to people with her paws in the cutest way, perhaps to compensate for lost depth of field. Either way, it's adorable! She is not a cat that likes to be carried, perhaps due to her lack of vision, but loves to be around her person. She eats pretty much everything and adores squeeze-up treats, Greek yogurt and chicken.
Despite her limited vision, WonTon is curious about EVERYTHING, and it doesn't stop her from getting into EVERYTHING! Her favorite toys are crinkled paper and plastic cat spring toys, and an open dishwasher. She loves dogs with calm energy and would love a dog friend in her forever home. However, the dog will need to be extremely tolerant, because WonTon has a fairly strong kitten-nip.
WonTon "explores" with her mouth, so would not be good with small children.
Wonton will need a cat-savvy adopter who can keep an eye on her mild chronic sinusitis which shows as occasional sneeze fits and stuffy nose. She will tolerate brief teeth brushing which will help prevent dental bacteria, especially important because she is FIV+.

HISTORY:
Wonton was found in a yard and turned in to a rural shelter with crusted-over eyes, almost certainly another victim of the common feline viral rhinotracheitis respiratory infection. She is certainly blind in her left eye, which had already shrunk, and probably will be removed. Her right eye is cloudy, but the eye specialist confirmed that she can see light and shadows! Her foster mom has seen Wonton attack her necklace with laser accuracy in one minute, but then run into a chair leg, the next! She also plays the Cat Fishing game on her foster mom's phone with suprisingly high scores!
Other than that, Wonton is a typical kitten who loves to play and snuggle. She is always willing to be held and loved, and is having fun with her foster friend, Dumpling, who also came into rescue with a horrible eye infection. Wonton seems to love calm dogs and always wants to play with her 85 lb canine roomie!
EST DOB: 5/18/2025
If the cat is under the age of 1 year old or has heath issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name.
Adoption fee of $140 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, FIV/FELV test and any other medical that may be required while in rescue.
We only do adoptions on Saturday, and not all animals are able to attend, so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary, so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible.
Please email Lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.
