A spirited two-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Great Pyrenees mix (And yes, we have the DNA panel to prove it!) currently living in Ladson, SC, whose golden coat glows as brightly as her loyalty to the people she trusts most.
Sunny is a large girl—about 70 pounds of muscle, heart, and determination—who thrives in wide open spaces, daily routines, and the company of those she knows and loves. This golden gal is a runner at heart and would be thrilled to be your workout buddy, your fetch partner, or your passenger for a leisurely car ride (bonus points if there's a drive-thru involved)! Though she’s not one for busy social scenes, she’s got the heart of a protector and the soul of a homebody.
Once you’re in her circle, Sunny is deeply affectionate—she’ll greet you with full-body wiggles and be your most devoted shadow! Her loyalty is fierce and her cuddles are genuine, but she does ask that her personal space be respected, especially around food and when she’s winding down for a nap (she’s a bit grumpy when sleepy—relatable, right?).
Sunny needs a very specific kind of loving home: one without children, other dogs, or cats. She’s a one-and-only kind of companion, best suited for a calm, structured environment with a fenced yard to stretch her legs and explore. Confined spaces, like crates or being closed in one room, make her anxious, sometimes leading to drooling and shaking. She’s had a few difficult experiences in the past, including a bite history, so she’ll need a pet parent who’s experienced, patient, and committed to working with her using positive reinforcement. The great news? She’s been incident-free since November and even allowed friendly strangers to pet her on recent walks.
Sunny already knows a bunch of commands—sit, stay, down, spin, shake, and more—so she’s got a solid foundation for anyone ready to continue her training journey. She’s house-trained, vaccinated, spayed, and ready for the next chapter!
We’re including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Sunny settle in. Her new family will have compassionate support every step of the way to feel confident, connected, and at home.
Could you be the confident, calm caregiver Sunny needs—a guardian with a quiet home, a fenced yard, and a whole lot of love to give? If so, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and come meet this courageous girl ready to bloom!
