My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Finn is what a cuddly squish he is! Likes: Hikes, playing at the dog park, running super fast!   Hi, Im Finn, and Id be a finn-tastic furry friend for any family! My foster mom loves to tell everyone what a sweet, gentle, happy boy I am, and its all true! Im a certified delight! I get along with everybody I meet, and I especially like playing with kids, since theyre my height! Id love to join a family where I'll have human siblings, or doggy siblings or no siblings at all! I really just want to find my people so that I can start sharing all my love with my forever family. One of my favorite things to do is play with other dogs! I absolutely love making new doggy friends on playdates, walks, at the dog park, and just about everywhere else! I have the best time ever running, and chasing, and wrestling, and jumping and getting the zoomies with all my canine besties. Other activities I enjoy are spending time with my foster family, going on nature hikes, and eating snacks. I also love getting all the cuddles and pets, and snuggles on the couch! I do not so much love loud noises and things that move too quickly. Dont even get me started on vaccums, AKA psycho robots of destruction. Has anyone else ever noticed that after those things come through, all the delicious crumbs are missing from the floor?? No one else finds that alarming?!? As evidenced by my vacuum hatred, I can be a bit of a nervous guy when it comes to unexpected sounds, so city life isnt my ideal. Suburbia, here I come! Just like Im smart enough to recognize the threat that vacuum cleaners pose, Im a super quick study in all other areas of life too. I absolutely love treats and snacks, and Im super food motivated. Im eager to please, and training with me is a breeze! I already know sit, stay, down, and come, and Im totally crate trained and potty trained. Id love to learn even more tricks with my forever family! If youre looking for a dog who will be your best buddy, and the best buddy of all the other dogs on the block too, Im your guy! I promise to never let a vacuum cleaner get you, and to always help clean out the cookie jar. In other words, Id be the perfect addition to any family, so apply to adopt me today! Additional adoption info

Adoption area is Washington, D.C area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland. All adoptions require a completed adoption application. Our adoption coordinators will contact you soon after reviewing the application. Our adoption fee is $450 to help off set the costs of rescuing dogs in need. All dogs go to their new homes spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, wormed (although a 2nd worming may be required), started on heart worm and flea and tick preventative and sometimes microchipped.

Although we try to be as accurate as possible, Rural Dog Rescue cannot guarantee the breed or full-grown adult size of any of the dogs or puppies in its care. Because many of these dogs were found as strays or are the result of irresponsible, unplanned breeding, we do not know the dog's exact background and can only list breed and size by our best educated guess. If exact breed and size are important to you, please consider adopting a dog from a specific breed rescue. We want our dogs to be adopted by people who will love and care for them forever for who they are - no matter what breed and size they turn out to be!

More about this rescue

Rural Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save the lives of dogs and cats in high-kill shelters in rural areas with euthanasia rates of 80% or higher.

Mission Statement: Forever true to The Underdog, Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue. We save the dogs who are at most risk of being euthanized: the hounds, the black dogs, the seniors, the sick and the broken. We make a commitment to reserve a minimum of 50% of the dogs we save to The Underdog. Root For The Underdog!

Rural Dog Rescue's home base is in Washington, DC. We support several high kill shelters that euthanize in 72 hours and whose kill rate is 70% or higher in rural areas of Virginia, West Virginia, North and South Carolina. Rural Dog Rescue also helps dogs in need in Washington, DC and Maryland.

We are 100% volunteer and foster based and no salaries are paid. 100% of your donation and adoption fee goes to helping the dogs and cats of Rural Dog Rescue.
