My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tipper

Children list specific ages: She is GREAT with kiddos and has met kiddos as young as 2 years old!
Strangers: Great!

Training Needs:
Crate Trained: Yes
Potty Trained: Yes

Tipper might just be THE CUTEST little potato you’ll ever lay eyes on! Weighing in at 41 pounds, this 2-year-old sweetheart is short, stumpy, and ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE — coming up to just under knee height! Her name suits her perfectly, too — when she gets excited, she does her signature tippy toe dance, complete with a full-body wiggle and the happiest butt shakes you’ve ever seen! This little lady is as affectionate as they come as she LOVES cuddling, sleeping in bed with her people, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get! Tipper is happiest when she’s close to her humans and can be a little dramatic if she feels left out lol — but that’s just part of her charm! She also enjoys treats and spending time outdoors especially when she gets the chance to run and play!

Tipper is potty trained and currently working on crate training — she might whine for a few minutes, but she settles down nicely once she realizes she’s safe! She generally walks well on the leash and only pulls occasionally. With a little patience and encouragement, she’ll be a pro in no time! She’s also not reactive on walks, which makes her a wonderful companion for people who live in busy, dog-friendly communities! Speaking of dogs, Tipper is GREAT with other dogs and currently lives happily in a multi-dog foster home! She has no toy or water aggression, though she can be a little protective of her food bowl on occasion. Tipper also does well with cats, sometimes even trying to play with them, and she’s gentle and loving with children, even as young as two!

At just under knee height, Tipper is too short to counter surf lol (though she’ll happily supervise your cooking from below!). She rides calmly in the car — just be sure to give her a little time after dinner before heading out!

Tipper is truly the whole package — sweet, silly, loving, and full of personality and GREAT with other furry friends! She’s been through a lot, but her gentle heart and joyful spirit shine through every single day! If you’re looking for a happy little potato who will fill your home with love and laughter, Tipper is your girl!

More about this rescue

MISSION
Our mission is to be a voice and a home for dogs and cats who do not have one. To provide love, care, and shelter for those who have never had it or have lost it. We believe all animals are deserving. We will rescue, protect, vet, and provide hope as we search for loving forever homes for all animals that come into our care.

PURPOSE
Ruby Whiskers Animal Rescue, based in Lemont, IL, is dedicated to rescuing, vetting, and rehoming animals from shelters and other abandoned situations. Operated by dedicated volunteers and supported by foster families and sponsors, our goal is to provide the necessary veterinary care, grooming, and love while finding them forever homes.

GOALS
Successfully rescue and rehome dogs and cats from kill shelters and other abandoned situations.

Spay/neuter all animals that come into our care.

Grow a foster and volunteer network.

Support and educate the community of the importance of spay and neuter.

Keep pets with their families by providing assistance with pet food, training, vetting, or any other pet related issue, in order to keep them together and out of the shelter.

Educate adults and children to build awareness, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spay and neuter for all animals.

Advocate for stronger laws regarding animal welfare, cruelty, and puppy mills/pet stores.

Help decrease the homeless/abandoned animal population to in turn reduce euthanasia rates at shelters and animal control organizations.

PHILOSOPHY
Successful RWAR adoptions depend on strong relationships with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and trainers. Through these relationships we will be able to rescue hundreds of animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care and carefully-matched forever homes.

SUPPORT
Best Friend’s Animal Society NO-KILL 2025 Goal

Reaching no-kill by 2025 means that every shelter in our country is getting the community support it needs to save every dog and cat who can be saved. *When a shelter is saving at least 90% of dogs and cats entering that shelter, it is designated as no-kill.*
