My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sookie - GSD/BC Mix - Female - 7 Months- www.twyla.org

If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org

Meet the Gilmore Girls! "We were found in an abandoned trailer in very unsafe conditions. Once rescued by our foster family, we started opening our eyes to see this beautiful world around May 12th, and boy are we HAPPY TO BE HERE!
Our Mom - who has already found her permanent place once we find ours - is a gorgeous Shepherd mix and very patient with us and our apparently very sharp teeth.
My foster parents call me Sookie Tsunami! I turn every water source I can find into a splash pad. My foster parents have acquired about 10 extra bath towels because of me. My newest hobby is frog hunting. I’m the first to wake up and the last to go to sleep. I’m the definition of “wild child,” and most importantly, I’m endless FUN. I have the vertical jump of a college basketball player and would thrive in agility training. I need a family who will allow me explore my love of water and take me to the beach, the lake, let me in their pool, etc. I love to eat water as it comes out of the water hose, so backyard splash pads are also great. The traditional spray bottle method of correction doesn’t work on me because I view getting sprayed with water as a reward and a game all in one. I need a family who will provide me with lots of physical AND mental stimulation (think maze bowls, puzzle toys, snuggle mats, hide and seek, etc.) because I’m extremely intelligent and when I get bored I do this thing that I call “art” but my foster parents call “destruction.” My big brain means I am curious and interested in…pretty much everything, so I need a best friend that will keep me active but also set boundaries with things like nipping. My people will need to understand that I am still learning that my baby teeth hurt when I play-bite, so I may nip because I think it’s a game! Despite my boundless energy, I’m actually still a huge lover. When I am finally worn out and ready to rest, I love to be held and getting smooches."

Sookie is looking for a home with other dogs to help mentor her and play with her. Older kids may be OK in a home with a large-breed experienced handler as these pups grow by leaps and bounds and don't know their size and strength yet.

Puppies tend to thrive in homes where there is another large dog young enough to play, they have a private Yard, where they are not left alone or in a crate all day (making housetraining virtually impossible). Patience, time and training is required when raising a puppy - their are cute for a reason (otherwise no one would put up with them)

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
