My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

❤  IN VERMONT  ❤

Meet Little Louie!

Louie is 3 years old, male (approx. DOB tbd), 30 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered and micro-chipped. Louie found himself in a very sad situation when his BFF canine passed away about 2 years ago. He got visibly depressed and stopped eating; and his owners never got another dog. From there, Louie rarely got any physical exercise or emotional enrichment and became guarded and unhappy. His owners are elderly (no judgement, just creating an understanding) and Grandpa unfortunately is very ill. As a result, an appointment was made to have him PTS when a very concerned "Niece" reached out to us to see if we could help. He deserved a chance! Thankfully, family stepped in and was able to take him away to safety! Since then, Lou is AN EXCELLENT little guy. He has really came out of his shell others past few weeks. He has had ZERO negative behavior with any human or dog (even a Beagle that he’s never met). He LOVES paper anything and will grab a napkin or paper towel if unattended. LOL He does not want you to take it away and just eats it faster, likes it's a game. He is a bit skittish with noises while outside but once away from buildings/houses he is much better (he needs the security of always walking close to the perimeter of houses, tree line, fences), He was afraid of fans, doorways, floor changes (like when going from the living room to the kitchen or grass to cement walkway) but has figured things out and knows they won’t eat him… loud trucks or honking vehicles make him uneasy while outside when waiting on his caretaker or her dog but while out walking he does pretty darn great and ends up enjoys himself! We think Louie has to have another dog in the house, patient humans, and a home that understands him. His underbite is quite prominent lol and his big ole teeth get in the way by accident. He plays and does very well with his foster sibling Murphy, a 11 yo standard poodle! Stay tuned for more information as Tina is a new rescue!

If you are interested in adopting Tina please fill out an Application at  www.Passion-4-Paws.org  (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks!

Please note Fosters have 1st option of Adoption.

Disclosure:   Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue.  Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance!   Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed.  Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

More about this rescue

Passion 4 Paws is an animal rescue organization founded by Robin Shover of Shelburne, Vermont. Robin has invested many years learning best practices to rescue dogs primarily from death row at high kill shelters. Robin works very closely with Potters Angels Rescue out of Randolph, Vermont and decided the most effective way to save even more dogs is to continue working closely with PAR plus her own new entity in Chittenden County and surrounding areas. Many people who personally know Robin realize her "passion" and dedication to the dogs. P4Ps rescues dogs from high kill shelters, provides a safe environment with foster families and adopters, education for the community, and advocacy for animal rights. Our group will be staffed entirely by volunteers and will be served by a Board of Directors. Our efforts will be supported through donations, charity events, Corporate/Employee Benefit tax deductible donation programs, and the generosity of animal lovers from within the community. Our focus is on dog rescue only. All funds received will be used strictly for this purpose and will incorporate medical bills, transport fees, food and other items for the dogs, shelter fees, charity events, boarding, and training.
