Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Walter, a two year old Hound/Retriever mix weighing 63 pounds.
Walter is a gentle soul with the softest eyes and the sweetest heart. Recently surrendered with his companion Edith, Walter spent his entire life outdoors in a kennel. His former family had him since he was a puppy, but due to circumstances, could no longer care for him. When he arrived, Walter had injuries to his ears consistent with repeated fly bites — a sign of how long he’s gone without the comfort and care he deserves. Despite it all, Walter remains incredibly friendly, gentle, and eager to connect.
Everything is new to him — indoor living, soft beds, consistent affection — but he’s learning the ropes and taking it all in stride. He might do best in a home without cats and will benefit from continued socialization to help build his confidence. What he needs most is patience, kindness, and someone willing to show him what love truly feels like. Walter is ready for a fresh start, and with the right person, he’s going to blossom. Could that be you?
This pet is available for adoption on 9.5.25 at the Yakima Humane Society- Ellensburg shelter. If you recognize this animal please contact the Ellensburg shelter at 509-925-7387.
