My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

YOUR ‘ONLY PET’ BEST FRIEND:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 30 lbs.

Hi, I’m Shellie!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m sure happy to be here and thankful for a second chance at living a great life!  I’m ready to find my new family and have some fun as well as show them what a great companion I’ll be. I was adopted for a few days, but it wasn’t a good fit as I did not like the cat and I need to work on my food and toy possessiveness which I’m doing now with my trainer.  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off-site and learned a lot!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and do not like them so I’ll want to be your only pet. / I met a cat in a temporary home, and we learned that I should not live with cats due to my strong prey drive. (No cats were harmed in this discovery.) / There was an 11-year-old in my foster home, and I did great with them (they knew not to take things away from me), but more mature kids - aged 15+ that will follow the rules that work for me would be best, let’s meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My former foster described me as a loving friend who gave lots of kisses and was also a bit ‘mouthy’ like a puppy! I was delightful for the Mostly Mutts photographer as I showed how much I enjoyed cuddling and being in a lap. A very sweet and lovable friend, I’m looking forward to showering my family with love! I am a bit possessive of my food, toys and anything in my mouth and there was 1 bite related to this, so I’ve been working on it with my trainer, who has implemented controlled locations for my meals, as well as accompanying commands – so please just ask about this. My trainer also taught me the command ‘drop it’ to trade my toys and bones for a high value treat.  / Energy level: 5-7, so I’ll want to be active with my new family.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and I know the ‘sit’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘come’ commands.  I also utilize proper door etiquette, accept friendly strangers without jumping, and walk nicely on a leash.  My trainer is working with me on my possessive behaviors as there was 1 bite related to this.  My trainer would be happy to talk to and work with you on this. Mostly Mutts recommends a trainer to continue my training after adoption. / I am described as pretty relaxed in my crate and I did well in my temp. home, too. / I did really well with my potty manners in my foster home with no accidents as well as the temp. home I was in for a few days.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks, playing with toys, cuddling and being in laps as well as getting my head and ears scratched and my tummy rubbed. I also like pawing at my people’s feet - lol. / I can be a little shy when first meeting new people, so I do best when given time to approach at my own pace — if rushed, I may choose to run and hide.  See personality/skills section of my profile and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

I’m a great dog looking for a great family to love that will follow the rules that have been established to help me be successful! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
