My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sammie

Breed: Jindo Mix

Age: 6 years old (approx.)

Sex: Female (spayed)

Weight: 15.5 kg

Height: 48 cm (shoulder)

Color: White

Rescue Story

Sammie was rescued from a city shelter where she was at risk of euthanasia.

Personality & Temperament

Sammie is a gentle and cautious soul. She can be shy at first and is watchful around strangers, but give her 3–7 days and she’ll warm up to you — especially if you offer her some treats. Once she trusts you, she allows gentle handling and may even show you her belly!

She prefers calm environments and doesn’t enjoy overly hyper dogs or chaotic settings. She generally avoids conflict, even walking away when other dogs try to provoke her. Sammie is not overly playing with other dogs — she mostly keeps to herself peacefully.

She has a moderate energy level: she enjoys outdoor activities but settles down quietly afterwards. She rarely barks, though she may whine a little in a kennel. She’s comfortable riding in the car and can jump in and out on her own.

Behavior & Training

House Training: Mostly outdoor potty trained

Alone Time: Can stay home alone without being destructive

Leash Walking: May pull a little but generally follows her person

Food Behavior: Gentle with humans, but may growl if another dog approaches her food

Noise Level: Very quiet — does not bark back when other dogs bark

Baths: Not her favorite, but tolerates them

Children: Gentle and likely to do well with respectful children under 13

Sees cats with curiosity but follows her human’s lead without fuss

Likes & Dislikes

Prefers chicken or duck-based kibble over beef

Not interested in human food, cookies, snacks, or fruit

Comfortable with free-feeding

Prefers hard floors to soft bedding

Sammie is the perfect match for someone who appreciates a calm, well-mannered companion. She would thrive in a patient home that gives her time to adjust and lets her live at her own pace.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
