My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ruby!Ruby is a stunning young female German Shepherd, about 13 years old, with a warm personality that shines despite a rough start in life. Her Story:Rubys former owner surrendered her after keeping her chained to a tree for much of her young life. When she arrived at the shelter, she was full of parasites, but shes since been treated and given the fresh start she deserves. Ruby quickly became a shelter favorite, passing all of her assessments with flying colors. When the shelter sadly began euthanizing adoptable dogs due to space, staff reached out for helpthey couldnt bear the thought of Ruby losing her chance at a happy future. Personality & Temperament:Ruby is outgoing, affectionate, and thrives on human attention. She loves both men and women, is confident, and makes steady eye contact. Her easygoing, friendly nature makes her a joy to be around. Ruby is food-motivated (with no signs of food aggression), which will make training a breeze. She already knows sit and is eager to learn more. Other Dogs & Cats:Ruby did beautifully meeting another friendly dogtail wagging, happy to walk alongside, and even shared treat time calmly. Shes energetic but not overwhelming and would enjoy a home with another playful dog. She also had a respectful response when introduced to cats, backing away quickly when one swatted at her. Ideal Home:Ruby would love a fenced yard where she can run and play, ideally with another doggy companion. She doesnt show signs of separation anxiety and will settle well into a loving foster or forever home. Why Ruby?Shes the perfect mix of resilience and sweetnessa dog who has every reason to be wary of people, yet chooses to greet the world with joy. Ruby is ready to leave her past behind and become someones loyal friend and adventure buddy. NOTE: Ruby is heartworm positive and will undergo treatment before adoption. She should be ready for her new home in December. Please visit our website www.gsdrescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

More about this rescue

Thank you for considering adopting a GSRA dog. We love that you are exploring rescuing a GSD. We firmly believe that the adoption of a dog is not one to be taken lightly. Because of this belief, our adoption process is what some would described as lengthy and can be emotional. If you are looking to take a dog home "tomorrow", unfortunately our organization is not for you.
