Barbeque Squirrel is a domestic shorthair that came into our care in September 2025. Poor Barbeque was abandoned at a vacant property in Clovis, CA. The humble realtors noticed she seemed skinny, ill and in desperate need of rescue. They contacted Valley Animal Center in hopes of getting Barbeque Squirrel a loving place to stay while she awaits a furever home. This poor girl sustained some eye ulcers during her time out on the streets. Our veterinarian has examined her and the ulcers, determining that they are healed and she is healthy as can be now with no needed treatments.
Barbeque Squirrel is calm, affectionate, and very sweet. She can come off as shy at first but we promise she is the best kitty. She would do well with children and other kitties with a slow introduction. She will need routine semiannual or annual veterinary exams just to ensure her healed ulcers remain that way.
The adoption fee is $100 which includes spay, microchip, up-to-date vaccines, preventatives, FeLV/FIV testing and many more perks!
If you are interested in visiting and/or adopting Barbeque Squirrel please submit an application online (www.valleyanimal.org) or come by in person during our open hours! There is no appointment needed.

More about this shelter
Valley Animal Center houses thousands of dogs and cats annually until they are placed in loving homes. Majority of our shelter animals are rescued from local animal control agencies who have no more space for their animals. Even animals who have been abused, mistreated, abandoned, and injured are cared for and nurtured until a loving home is ready to adopt them.
We are easily accessible to the residents of the entire six-county region it serves. Even individuals from out of the area and out of state have come to Valley Animal Center to adopt animals from us and utilize our clinic services.
Our mission is to unite dogs and cat with loving people but it does not simply end at the adoption process. With our low-cost clinic, a membership-based dog park, and humane education resources found on our website, we want to ensure our community has easy access to resources that will help them along in their pet ownership journey.
