Napolean is a sweet and loving senior. We call him Niko, it’s easier and he responds to the nickname. Niko is an uncomplicated dog that would thrive where he is loved and adored. His foster says “he does NOT act like a senior dog” and “he’s one of the nicest dogs she’s I’ve fostered.”
The name Napolean suits him because he is brave and thinks he is much bigger than 10 pounds when he plays and cuddles with the foster family’s three large labradors. He also LOVES their senior horse. They pick him up so he can sniff her and he’s happy as can be. He’s also good with children (8 and up) and the groomers. Even though it took the groomer two hours to get out all the mats from overgrown hair, he was a champ.
He is heartworm positive. He's had 30 days of Doxycycline and a proheart injection. He needs to be re-tested in June 2026 for heartworm disease. Niko is also neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped.
He is mostly blind but has some visibility. Despite his blindness, he manages to get around in the house on his own. Because he is so brave and willing to explore, he needs supervision when he’s outside so his foster parent accompanies him when he potties and walks around the yard.
He doesn’t need a leash, just supervision. He has quite a bit of training down - house trained, crate trained, and walking on leash. His foster says he is super cute and “trots like a prancing pony picking up his little feet up.”
He likes to ride along on the front seat of their truck (tethered), popping his head to look around or lying down. He also loves treats and toys. He’s chewed up all the Benebones at his foster home. Because of his senior dog teeth, his kibble needs to be moistened and mixed with soft canned food.
Adoption fee is: $200
ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com
Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee.
Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

More about this rescue
CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
