Tom is a 3-year-old neutered male Pitbull mix with a stunning brindle coat and a big, loving heart. This energetic guy thrives when he has space to stretch his legs, so a house with a fenced-in backyard would be ideal for him. He absolutely loves going on walks, and he has the cutest habit—sometimes he’ll pause, look up at you, and gently ask for a hug. Lean in, and he’ll reward you with the biggest, happiest smile!
Tom prefers the company of women and is uncomfortable around most men. Because of this, he will do best in a women-only household. He has been working with our trainer to build confidence around men, and he has made progress, but this will be an ongoing journey that his new family must be ready to continue.
He is also most successful as the only dog in the home, and due to his nervous energy, he should not live with children. Tom is full of joy with the people he trusts—he adores our female volunteers, loves playtime with his toys, and shines when he feels safe and understood.
If you`re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will reward your patience with endless love, hugs, and heart-melting smiles, Tom is ready to meet his perfect match.

More about this shelter
The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.
Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.
Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
