Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Elexis 🖤
Elexis is a beautiful black mixed-breed pup with a heart full of curiosity and love. She's incredibly affectionate, always ready to snuggle up or nuzzle in for some attention. Elexis is friendly with people and often lets you know how she’s feeling with her vocal charm — she’s not shy about speaking her mind!
Though she has a playful side that comes out in bursts, Elexis tends to be a little anxious at times and appreciates calm, patient companionship. She's a loyal soul who's happiest exploring the world at her own pace, staying close to those she trusts.
With her expressive eyes and loving nature, Elexis is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds — once you’re in her circle, you’re there for life.

The AWL is here to find the best match possible between adopters and the animals in our care. Keep in mind that a pet’s personality is way more important, and it’s best to try to find a pet that will fit into your lifestyle.

More about this shelter
The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
