Dusty is a handsome, affectionate pup with boundless energy and a playful spirit. This sweet boy loves life and shows it through his enthusiastic approach to everything. He listens fairly well and has a good foundation for training.
What Dusty needs most is a canine mentor. He would thrive with an older, wiser dog companion who can help guide him and teach him the ropes. His high energy and playful nature would benefit from having a four-legged role model to show him how to channel his enthusiasm. He's looking for an active family with another dog who can help him become the best version of himself. With his affectionate personality and willingness to learn, Dusty will bring endless love to the right home.

Dusty is currently heartworm positive. He is undergoing treatment and expected to make a full recovery.

We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
