My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Say HELLO to Freddie — possibly your new best friend! Freddie is a handsome, sweet, and chill pit bull mix who is ready to find his forever home! This fun-loving boy came into the shelter as a stray, but whatever his past was, it hasn't dulled his beautiful spirit. Our vet estimates that he's around 4 or 5 years old, giving him plenty of youthful energy and seasoned manners.

PERSONALITY & PLAY

When you first meet Freddie, he’s a bit stoic, taking it all in, but once he knows you, get ready for his "spicy" and hilarious side! Freddie loves to play and get attention, and he has a wonderfully funny "woof" he uses to express his joy — and to let you know that he’s not being involved enough! He is a true people-dog who wants to be in the middle of everything you do. His dramatic (and adorable!) pleas for attention will keep you laughing!

TRAINING & QUIRKS

Freddie is a motivated learner because he is completely obsessed with treats. He's not picky — he loves them all! This helps a lot since he is already crate trained and housebroken and knows the "sit" command. He also walks politely on a leash. He will thrive with a bit more focused obedience work, and The Furever Project's required group obedience class will be a blast for him (especially if treats are involved!).

IMPORTANT NOTE ON TOYS: Freddie is a power chewer who loves Kong toys a little too much and can chew them into pieces. For his safety, Kongs must be avoided, as ingesting pieces could be dangerous. He will also get cranky if you try to take a favorite toy away, so it's best to trade up for a high-value treat instead of engaging in a tug-of-war.

COMPANIONS & HEALTH

Freddie is a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs and happily enjoys play sessions with his doggy foster sister! However, he must be adopted into a home without cats. While he isn't aggressive toward them, he does try to play with and chase them, and his size and strength mean he could unintentionally cause an injury.

Freddie is a healthy guy overall! He does take a daily medication, Apoquel, to keep his allergies in check. His adopter should be prepared for the possibility that he may need this medication long term. Also, a previous injury left his left eyelid with a unique look, but our vet confirmed that his vision is perfectly fine and that no surgery is needed. It’s just part of what makes Freddie unique!

Freddie has a ton of love to give, and he deserves a family or an individual who will shower him with attention and treats. Could you be the one to give this wonderful boy the happily-ever-after he's waiting for? If so, please fill out an adoption application for him today!

NOTE: Dog Breed Information — We do not utilize DNA testing for breed and mix determinations. The breed and mix identifications provided on the web pages for our dogs are based on information provided by shelter staff and dogs' previous owners, our visual assessment of their physical characteristics, and their demeanor and behavioral traits.

More about this rescue

We are not selective about the breed of dog we help. We consider the lives of all breeds to be equal. The labor force behind our mission is 100% volunteer staffed. We save dogs from shelters as well as from owners who cannot care for their dogs any longer. The dogs we take in are placed in loving foster homes until they find their forever home. We do not have a brick and mortar facility; we are 100% foster based including loving fospice for terminally ill dogs. We work to support the local community by providing education on care and treatment of dogs. Promoting safe handling, the importance of vaccinations, heartworm prevention, advocating and providing financial assistance to those in need for spay and neutering. We arrange for community outreach by building kennels and outdoor shelters to get dogs off chains.
