Claire (AKA Claire Bear) is ready to be your adoring best friend. Clair is a 2 year old Terrier mix with a gorgeous spotted coat and perfect floppy ears that are sure to bring a smile to your face. Claire came into our care as a stray back in September 2025 after being picked up by animal control. She came to us very pregnant and had babies in our care only days later. Her kiddos have since been adopted, and now she awaits a home as well. She is an outgoing girl who would thrive in just about every household. Her coat is primarily white, so don`t forget sunscreen if you take her on outdoor adventures. She is dog friendly, knows how to sit, stay, is gentle when taking treats, is only 40lbs, and her zoomies are iconic. She is heartworm positive, however don`t let that turn you away as our HSSM Wellness Clinic does discount the treatment for adopters. HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
