My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Stitch
Breed: Collie Mix | Age: 8 months | Size: ~30 lbs | Traits: Energetic, good with older kids and dogs

Stitch came to HOPE with a fractured hip in need of surgical repair. He had FHO surgery 10/23/25 and, thanks to a very special family, has had a safe place to rest as he works through his recovery so far. He started hydrotherapy on 11/19 and as of 12/4, was given the official "okay" for full range of activity without restriction.

Stitch is so much more then his injury. This sweet boy is full of love, energy, and endless puppy kisses. He has done amazing with his leash training and now moved on to practicing impulse control and notifying when he has to go potty. He is a smart boy who has learned commands quickly, but his genetic drive to herd means he's prone to be a bit mouthy and protective of food and toys. He thrives when he is fulfilled through exercise and enrichment.

Stitch's high energy and intelligence drives him to stay active. He would thrive in a home, preferably as a working dog, that has space for him to run and play.

More about this rescue

We mainly rescue dogs and cats from local Animal Shelters/Control when those facilities are overcrowded. Our adoptable cats are located in our H.O.P.E. Pet Adoption Center in the Wilton Mall and dogs are in individual foster homes.

We have educational programs for children and adults about choosing a pet and the responsibilities of pet ownership, and safety around animals.

We welcome volunteers for any of these programs or for our fundraising committee.
