My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Honey
Breed: Plott Hound/Great Dane Mix | Age: ~1.5 years | Size: ~65lbs
Traits: Gentle, shy, dog-social, well-leash trained, working on crate training

Honey is a sweet girl with a heart of gold who’s had a tough start in life. She’s a little shy and tends to trust dogs more quickly than people—but she’s beginning to come out of her shell and show her loving, curious nature.

Honey has done well around younger children and cats during short visits and enjoys the company of other dogs. Like any good hound, she’ll follow her nose wherever it leads, so you’ll want to keep doors and gates secure!

She is well leash-trained, uses a doggie door, and is currently working on crate training to help counteract her silly love of chewing. Her perfect home would include canine companions to help her feel comfortable, confident, and supported.

With time, patience, and a gentle hand, Honey will continue to blossom into the affectionate companion she’s meant to be. 🩷

More about this rescue

We mainly rescue dogs and cats from local Animal Shelters/Control when those facilities are overcrowded. Our adoptable cats are located in our H.O.P.E. Pet Adoption Center in the Wilton Mall and dogs are in individual foster homes.

We have educational programs for children and adults about choosing a pet and the responsibilities of pet ownership, and safety around animals.

We welcome volunteers for any of these programs or for our fundraising committee.
