My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Hunter was brought in by out Humane Law Enforcement team on September 30, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Hunter! Hunter might be on a "rest-and-relaxation" kick right now, but he's still got plenty of charm to share! This sweet guy has been through a lot lately, but thanks to some much needed medical care after we suspect he was hit by a car, he's now soaking up the calm life and focusing on building his strength. He'll need to keep things low-key through mid-November, and we recommend following up with your vet after that date to check on his progress. We're still getting to know Hunter, but we've found out that he loves treats, belly rubs, and having those typical Husky conversations! Think you're ready to meet this resilient guy? Hunter's calendar is wide open for naps, snacks, and taking over your couch! Come in and ask about adopting today!

At SDHS:
Hunter has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
