Meet Dexter! This handsome 4-month-old Shepherd mix was found with his puppy siblings abandoned out in Riverside County. Thankfully, a kind rescuer took them in, and now Dexter is ready to find his forever home! He’s a big, goofy puppy who can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up—get ready for playtime and cuddles! Dexter is currently working on his potty training and learning all the good puppy manners. If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
