Crystal is a stunning leopard appaloosa mare living near West Point, VA. Her owner has significant medical issues and has not been able to care for her for years. Crystal and her pasturemate have been coping well with interim caretakers, but the owner and her estate are currently in transition which leaves her once-loved horses vulnerable.
Crystal is a healthy, vibrant mare except for bilateral uveitis which has damaged her vision. She is currently pain-free and has adapted well to her vision loss. She sometimes depends on her pasturemate to show her around the field, but is also confident venturing out on her own. At her assessment, Crystal easily followed vocal cues to navigate and showed no difficulty in movement on the uneven terrain. She is currently housed in barbed wire fencing, and has managed to avoid injury so far.
It would be ideal for Crystal to keep her current pasture buddy, a senior Rocky Mountain gelding named Diamond Rio, with her in her next home. However, she appeared to be intelligent and adaptable enough at her assessment that she could learn to live with another seeing eye horse.
If you are interested in rehoming Crystal and giving her a safe forever home, please use the "Apply to Adopt" button above to fill out an Interest Form and we will connect you with her current caretaker. Thank you!
