My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post:
Saved from PG shelter and now needs a new foster or adopter ASAP due to a change in rental property management.

Dear Future Family,

Hi, it’s me — Ziggy!
I don’t know who you are yet, but I’ve been dreaming about you every single night. I imagine us walking together, me showing off my best leash manners… unless a squirrel shows up — in which case, sorry in advance. I picture us snuggled up on the couch while you rub my belly and I pretend to be shocked when you stop, even though I always expect you to keep going. I see you laughing at my ridiculous zoomies — I run in circles like a caffeinated toddler at recess!

Let me properly introduce myself: I’m 52.5 pounds of brindle handsomeness, cuddles, and goofy charm. I’m 1 year and 4 months old, with a sweet, gentle terrier soul and a heart full of love. I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and very treat-motivated (I’ll happily work for snacks… and I’ll definitely try to convince you I always deserve one). I know my basic commands and some cool tricks like paw, hug, and even cornhole — yep, I can drop the ball in the hole like a pro!

When I lean into you for reassurance or flop over for belly rubs, that’s my way of saying I trust you.

I adore humans — especially kids — but since I’m still a playful puppy with an enthusiastic affection style, I’d do best with older children. I’d love to be your only dog, but could do well with a passive female pup as a buddy.

I’m calm in the car, easy on leash (unless a squirrel, bird, or brave bunny crosses our path), and I’ve got the perfect energy level: a couple nice walks and some playtime, then I’m all about Netflix and naps. I’ll quietly snooze by your desk if you work from home — though I might occasionally remind you that breaks are for ear scratches and short walks.

If you’re the adventurous type, I’m your boy! I love hikes, car rides, and outdoor fun — and when we come home, I’ll reward you with the sweetest snuggles. I’d thrive with an active family who can match my zest for life.

But honestly, I don’t need much. I’m just eager to please, loving, and ready for my second chance. I want to be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, your partner in snacks, walks, and life. Every day I wake up hoping today’s the day you find me — and we can grow old together.

Until then, I’ll keep practicing my tricks, perfecting my zoomies, and waiting with my whole heart for my forever home.

Love always,
Ziggy

P.S. If you’re reading this thinking, “Wow, he sounds perfect,” it’s because I am. Adopt me already!

Ziggy’s Glow-Up Updates:

  • Sleeps quietly in his crate all night (9 p.m.–8 a.m.) and waits calmly for release on command.

  • Walks beautifully on leash with his no-pull head collar.

  • Social progress! Slow intros with dogs at the park go great — he prefers passive females but handles curious males calmly.

  • No more flinching at fast movements — he now loves head pets!

  • Enjoys fruits, veggies, puzzle toys, and Kongs — a slow feeder bowl helps with his food enthusiasm.

  • Smart, affectionate, trainable, and so eager to please — his foster says he’s blossomed into the sweetest, most gentle soul.

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
