Hi, I’m Charlie! The humans say that I’m a 5½-year-old red-and-white Border Collie beauty with brains, bounce, and a very expressive face (I use it to get snacks). I spent my whole life with my family but life threw us a curveball and now I’m rocking the rescue lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong, I love my foster family, but I know there’s a special forever home out there for me. I’ve been waiting for over four months! I know my family must be out there!
Currently, I’m living with foster (fur) siblings and having the best time. I LOVE to play; chasing, wrestling, and flinging toys around like it’s my full-time job. Toys are my passion. Balls and frisbees? Meh. I prefer chaos and squeaky things.
I’m a moderate-to-high energy BC, which means I’m always ready for action…but don’t worry, I do have a very respectable off switch once my needs are met. I’m sweet, gentle, and adore my humans; grown-ups, kids, really anyone who might pet me. I might be shy at first, but give me treats and I’m your bff. I like to stick close and be involved in whatever you’re doing. Bathroom break? I’ll supervise.
I’m learning my manners like sit, down, stay, and that jumping on people isn’t how we say hello (even though I’m just excited). I’m basically a blank slate and VERY treat-motivated, so I’m ready to learn all the things. I’m smart, and curious, but if I get bored I might redecorate your yard with some digging. If you give me exercise and proper chews, I’m totally satisfied and won’t start any shenanigans. Sometimes I like to talk when I’m happy or excited, but not in a bad way! You speak dog, right? But apartment living may not be the best for me.
Important note: I should not live with cats or chickens. I chased both before, and my prey drive is strong. I’ll need a secure fence or someone committed to keeping me leashed and helping me continue working on recall (I sometimes hear you… eventually).
I’d LOVE another playful dog friend and a family that includes me in adventures, walks, and fun. I walk nicely on a loose leash, I’m kennel trained and house trained.
One more thing about me: when I came into foster, I had two seizures. The vet figured out I have hypothyroidism, which sounds scary but is actually very manageable. I take a daily, inexpensive medication for life and feel great on it! I’ll just need yearly blood work to make sure my dose stays right.
I’m spayed, fully vetted, microchipped, and on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. I’m currently fostered in the St. Robert, MO area.
So…are you looking for a sweet, silly, toy-loving, adventure-ready best friend who will adore you forever? Because I’m right here! Fill out an adoption application on Mo-Kan’s website and let’s meet!
