Meet Paisley! A Barbie in Chihuahua form, Paisley is searching for her Dream Home.
For years, Paisley’s owner did everything she could for her little dog, even as she herself faced homelessness. She kept her safe, fed her when she could, and loved her fiercely. But recently she lost her home and Paisley’s pain became too much. She watched as Paisley's tiny face swelled and her jaw began to fracture under the weight of long-neglected infection, and surrendered her to us with tears streaming down her face, praying we could save her.
We rushed Paisley to an oral surgeon who removed her rotting teeth, repaired her jaw, and cured the infection that was threatening her life. Paisley is recovering beautifully in foster home, eating her entire dinner like a champ just hours after her surgery.
Brilliant and polite, Paisley has figured out that her foster mom needs some assistance putting her leash on. So, she stands up and gently puts her paws on foster mom’s leg to help clip her leash to her harness. We do not deserve such thoughtfulness, but what a gift this smart girl is!
Paisley would love a calm and quiet home with people who are around most of the time. She loves to snuggle and go for short walks in the neighborhood, and is happy to live with cats as well as other dogs. Sweet, friendly, and cuddly, Paisley truly loves being around humans. She had some separation anxiety initially but it's improved greatly as she's settled in, so she'll likely need some time to get used to her new home.
Paisley is housetrained, walks beautifully on the leash, and loves a good car ride. A true little fashionista, her favorite outfits are all pink. She can climb up and down a few stairs but will need a helping hand with a full staircase. Food motivated after years of scarcity, she has no compunction about thieving snacks from other pets in the household. You snooze, you lose!
Don't snooze on applying to meet Paisley, though. A girl like this won't be on the market for long!
Paisley is approx 13 years old and 6 lbs .
Fostered in Berkeley Spring, WV
