My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I need a home where there are no other dogs.

I need a home without cats or small animals.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life.

I will need appropriate toys and positive outlets for my energy.

A volunteer writes: If wiggling were an Olympic sport, Shady would be a multi-medalist. A silly, enthusiastic girl (particularly in the presence of treats), this is the second time she's found herself living in the shelter in the past year - but her spirits remain as bright as they can given her situation. She was initially found in November 2024 hanging out in a playground sandbox in poor shape and brought to the shelter, where she adopted just a few weeks later. Fast-forward a year, when she was surrendered this past October, through no fault of her own.

This 4-year-old low-rider has become a quick volunteer favorite, trotting along and checking in periodically on walks, usually in the hopes of getting some snacks. Her recent guardians noted that she loved to spend time with the family in the living room and bedroom, and tolerates bathing and nail trims (because she knows the value of self-care). She lived with three children, but would do best going to a home without kids under 13. Due to reactivity to other dogs, she should also be the only pet. Shady is spayed and ready to go home today.
