Meet the Pet
This helps Adopt Korean Rescue - Vancouver with pet care costs.
Yeolmae
4 years old (Born June 2021) | 16kg | 52cm | Neutered male
Gentle | Affectionate | Kid-friendly | Calm
Rescue Story: Rescued from a city shelter just before euthanasia.
Personality & Temperament
Yeolmae is a truly affectionate and polite boy who loves being around people.
He approaches both friends and strangers with a wagging tail, gently leaning his body for pets and affection. While a little cautious at first, he quickly warms up—especially if you offer him a treat!
He is extremely gentle with children and has learned how to coexist beautifully with them. He’s even lived with twin toddlers and knows how to give them space when they walk around the house. He never reacts while eating, even if little hands wander near his bowl, and he’s learned to be patient and kind. Though he can accidentally bump into small kids when excited, he’s never rough or reactive.
Originally, he was a bit shy with men, but after spending time with male trainers and caretakers, he has become comfortable and now welcomes everyone with his usual sweet nature—though he still has a soft spot for women.
With Other Dogs & Animals
Yeolmae greets other dogs happily and invites them to play. He gets along best with dogs around his size or larger, and if another dog shows tension, he simply walks away. He may softly growl when another dog approaches his food, but it’s mild and manageable.
He shows curiosity toward cats but doesn’t chase them, and he ignores birds and small animals. During walks, even when he spots cats, he focuses on his handler rather than reacting.
Behavior & Training
Yeolmae walks beautifully on leash—no pulling, always staying near his person. He enjoys outdoor time but relaxes quietly afterward, making him easy to live with.
He rarely barks (only a few times when a delivery arrives), travels calmly in a kennel, and is fully kennel-trained.
He can hop in and out of an SUV on his own but doesn’t love car rides yet—he tends to whine a little when the car turns sharply. With gentle practice, this can improve.
He is very polite about food—if someone eats near him, he simply waits patiently, never begging. He loves snacks like apples, pears, cucumbers, boiled chestnuts, and eggs
Yeolmae dislikes nail clippers (he’s scared of them) but allows his nails to be gently ground with a grinder. He doesn’t enjoy baths, but he waits calmly until the end. He has sensitive skin, so he’s always used natural, organic dog soap.
Summary
Yeolmae is calm, gentle, and affectionate. He’s intelligent, patient, and kind—a perfect companion for families, especially those with kids or another friendly dog.
He doesn’t need constant attention but thrives when included in daily life.
His loyalty and quiet love will make him an irreplaceable part of his forever family.
