Meet Percy — A Loving Terrier Mix Searching for His Forever Home

Name: Percy

Age: 3 years

Sex: Neutered Male

Breed: Terrier Mix

Color: White

Weight: 17 kg

Height: ~53 cm (shoulder height)

Rescue Story

Percy entered the shelter in fall 2022 when he was around 5–6 months old.

He spent two long years in the city shelter before moving to his foster home this March.

When he was first admitted, both ears were intact — but after a bite incident at the shelter, the tip of one ear was partially damaged.

Despite everything he has gone through, Percy remains sweet, gentle, and resilient.

‍‍‍ Socialization with People

Percy may be slightly shy at first, but he warms up quickly with treats and soft interactions.

• He allows petting soon after meeting someone.

• Outdoors, it takes him a little time to offer closeness, but indoors he opens up more easily, even with new people.

• He is wonderful with children under 13 and is comfortable being gently lifted with arms around his belly.

Socialization with Other Dogs

• Percy generally gets along very well with other dogs.

• He greets unfamiliar dogs politely but doesn’t always engage in play unless he meets a dog he really clicks with — then he joyfully runs and plays.

• He does well with both bigger and smaller dogs.

• However, high-energy or overly intrusive dogs can overwhelm him.

With Cats

Percy has not lived with cats.

• On walks, he may bark at a cat he sees and then run away — indicating curiosity mixed with uncertainty.

Energy Level

• Moderate energy — he enjoys outdoor activities but relaxes calmly afterward.

• Indoors, he is easygoing and settles well.

Walks & Outdoor Behavior

Percy loves walks and the outdoors.

• He may pull a bit during the first part of the walk, but overall he follows his handler well.

• He adjusts quickly and walks with a loose leash once he settles.

• He handles new walking routes, narrow streets, and roadways confidently.

• In very crowded places or events, his tail may go down as he becomes uncertain.

• When he wants to go out, he adorably lifts his front paws at the door to let you know.

Other Behaviors

• No resource guarding toward people, but he may growl if another dog approaches his food while he’s eating.

• Rarely barks.

• No separation anxiety.

• Calm in a crate.

• Afraid of getting into the car — he needs to be lifted inside.

• Mostly potties outdoors.

Percy Is Looking For…

A loving family who enjoys gentle, friendly dogs and can give Percy the time, patience, and affection he deserves after two years of shelter life.

He thrives with routine, outdoor time, and kind people who help him build confidence.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.
