My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Fannie was brought in by a Field Services Officer on September 24, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Fannie! Fannie is still learning that new people and places aren't so scary. This shy girl takes her time to warm up, and while she's become more comfortable with familiar friends, she can still feel unsure around new people. She's a pup who appreciates her space - Fannie isn't big on lots of pets or fuss, so it's important for her adopters to read her body language and let her set the pace. New situations can be overwhelming for her, so she's happiest in a calm, predictable environment where she can relax and feel safe. Fannie will do best in a quiet household with older teens (14+) or adults only, where she can build trust at her own speed and show her gentle, thoughtful side. If you believe in giving dogs patience, respect, and understanding, Fannie may be the perfect match for you! She can't wait to show you her more confident, spunky side!

At SDHS:
Fannie has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

Shy/Fearful Dog: Fannie requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
