DOG TEST: (Good with Dogs) Flounder loves to run around the yard and play with other dogs. He seems like he would do well in a home with other dogs.
CAT TEST: (Okay with Cats) Flounder has met a cat at the shelter and did not seem interested. He would do okay in a home with cats with proper introductions.
KID TEST: (Good with Kids) Flounder seems like he would do good with kids of all ages! HOUSE BROKEN: (Potty Trained) Flounder seems to keep a clean kennel and will potty outside. ENERGY LEVEL: (Medium) Flounder is a big boy and a big sweetheart. Flounder doesn`t mind saying hi to new people and asking for rubs! He likes to run around and play with other dogs here at the shelter. Flounder seems like he would thrive in a home with a large backyard for him to lounge around and take in all the smells.
LEASH WALKING: (Good on Leash) Flounder seems to walk well on a leash. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit (Yes) Down (No) Stay (No) Shake (No) Drop (No)

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
