Hi! I’m Jack — a two-year-old, 58-pound red heeler/Australian shepherd mix with a gentle soul. I was rescued from the ESLR 2.0 hoarding situation in Mexico, and after everything I’ve been through, I’m slowly learning that the world can be kind. I just need a little time (and a lot of patience) to believe it.
If you’re looking for an instant cuddle bug, I’m probably not your guy — at least not right away. I’m a cautious boy who needs to build trust slowly. It can take me several days or even weeks to feel comfortable enough to leave my crate or seek attention. But once I realize you’re safe, I start to thaw like warm cheesy guy that I am— gentle, sweet, and grateful for every bit of love you offer.
I tend to bond with women. My foster mom is my favorite person, and my tail practically turns into a helicopter when she walks in the room. Men make me nervous, and it may take quite a bit longer for me to feel secure with them. I’ll be the most loyal, loving companion you could ask for!
I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and very quiet. I don’t bark much (even at the mailman!) and I’m content to nap the day away while you work. I get along fine with calm dogs, though I’m not really interested in playing quite yet. A calm home, ideally with a patient, understanding woman or a gentle family who doesn’t rush me — would be the cheddar to my mac.
It might take time for me to come out of my shell, but I promise I’m worth it. Beneath my shy exterior is a dog who just wants to love and be loved. I’m just waiting for the right person to help me feel safe so I can shine! If you have a quiet home and a kind heart, I think we could make a grate match.
My adoption fee is $350 and includes neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. Apply to meet me here: theanimalpad.org/adoption-application
