My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Song and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Jindo/Alaskan Malamute mix

  • Age: 11 years (est. birth: Aug. 2014)

  • Gender: S. Female

  • Weight: 62 lbs (28kg)

  • Height: 72 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 101 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: S. KOREA

RESCUE STORY - I’m a gentle and affectionate girl who has earned the love and approval of every volunteer I’ve met. I was rescued in 2016 from Paju, Korea. When I was found, I was wearing a collar, which made people believe I once had a family—but sadly, no one ever came to claim me. I was placed on the euthanasia list, but thankfully, I was saved just in time. I may be a "senior" gal, but I have SO much love to give and life left to live. I really hope I can find my forever home after so many years of waiting for my chance.

TEMPERAMENT – For the past 9 years, I’ve lived in the shelter here in Korea. Despite originally being abandoned and enduring harsh living conditions, I’ve remained incredibly sweet, cheerful, and full of life. My tail never stops wagging when I meet new people, and I love to follow volunteers around like a loyal shadow. I love getting pets and eagerly seek out affection (video). I enjoy the company of other dogs and am truly just such a sweet girl! I have pretty darn good manners and am such a good girl when taking treats (video, video 2). I've been groomed and continued to prove my gentle, patient temperament during the washing & drying process (video, video 2).

ENERGY LEVEL – Moderate, I’m a mellow senior dog, but don’t let that fool you—I still have plenty of energy (video)! I love going for walks, and when I’m in play mode, get ready for some zoomies!

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yes! A human is a human—I love all people, no matter their age. Check out my video here - SUCH a sweetheart, amiright??

    • same with ALL dogs, if I am around children, I should be supervised! My humans need to advocate for my space and make sure I am respected :)

  • Dogs – Yes! I get along well with other dogs (video). I’m currently living in a foster home with a few doggo friends who are much smaller than me. My foster mom says I’m very well-suited for a multi-dog home!

  • Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I’m very good on a leash and love exploring the outdoors! I'm sure I'll still have some learning to do in my forever home, but with patience and some dedicated leash training, I have no doubt I'll be a pro in no time!

  • House trained – I’ve been living with my foster family since last June, and I’m still a work in progress when it comes to being housebroken. Since I’ve only had a few months to learn, my future home will need to be prepared and willing to continue helping me with my training. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home!

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

  • I will have dental cleaning, if necessary, before flying to Canada.

    • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $616.00 CAD ($550.00 + GST & PST) including applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
