My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Load O' Potatoes!
Found as a stray and brought to the 90th Precinct before coming to ACC, this affectionate city walker is ready to trade kennel noise for cozy naps and neighborhood strolls. Volunteers rave about her sweet manners and cuddle game on BoroughBreaks.

My Ideal Home
An experienced, adult-only home that offers calm structure, patience, and a thoughtful decompression plan. Routine sniffy walks, enrichment (food puzzles, long-lasting chews), and reward-based training will help her shine. A front-clip harness and clear, consistent cues set her up for success.

Good with Kids?
Recommended adult-only (no children under 13) based on shelter observations and behavior team guidance.

Good with Other Pets?
Best as the only dog for now. In the busy kennel room she can be reactive (barking/lunging), but outdoors-with space and support-she often passes dogs without fuss. No dog parks. If you have a resident dog, plan slow, structured introductions with professional guidance. Potatoes needs a home without cats or small animals.

Leash Manners
Often a loose, thoughtful walker who checks in with her handler. If excited, she may briefly grab the leash; this has been easy to redirect with treats or a squeaker. She's tolerant of gentle petting during walk breaks and navigates sidewalks well when supported.

Overall Health
Spayed. Vet team notes dental tartar; regular dental care, balanced diet, and everyday exercise will help her feel her best. Previously had a shelter cough that resolved. (Your vet can personalize her wellness plan once home.)

Behavior Determination & Other
ACC Behavior Level: 3
Recommendations: Adult-only; no dog parks; front-clip harness; reward-based training to build focus around other dogs. In kennel/play-yard settings she may react toward neighboring dogs; on the street, distance and support help her stay composed.

Fun Facts
Her BoroughBreak buddies called her "an absolute angel" with "paw-tastic manners." Car-ride comfy, picnic-ready, generous with kisses, and a champion at settling after a good walk.

Ready to meet Load O' Potatoes?
If you love training, structure, and cuddly couch time-and you're ready to be her safe landing-Lo's your girl.

My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Lo was an absolute angel and pawtastic! She was very well-behaved and had great manners. She is very sweet and gave loads of kisses! She was never hesitant and was always ready for the next adventure!

A Volunteer Wrote: I first met her flat on her back. She had thrown herself down, in a fit of pleasure, on the sidewalk, and was scratching her back on the cement and wriggling around and wagging her tail, while her borough break buddy looked equally delighted. "She's just the best!" she reported in on her morning with our girl. She's endlessly affectionate, has fantastic manners, and is adored by all of us because she's been here long enough for us all to fall in love. Please--come break her out, once and for all, and let the back scratches begin!
