My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Slate! 💕
Slate is a brave and resilient male tabby who’s come a long way from being rescued from an abandoned house with his five siblings. He’s learning to trust, play, and enjoy the good life — and he’s discovering that people can be pretty great! He has made so much progress in his time with Darbster. He loves to play with people with wand toys, accepts treats from their hands, and even enjoys head scratches in the quieter hours here. He thrives alongside other cats, and we would highly recommend he go to a home with at least one other cat to guide and entertain him as he grows. Slate is ready to find a patient, loving home where he can feel safe and adored. If you think that could be you, please reach out or come on in to meet him!

More about this shelter

At Darbster Rescue, our goal is to place kittens, cats, and dogs with great, forever homes in New England. The pets are primarily from South Florida and other southern states where the euthanasia rates are very high. Our shelters are in New Hampshire which has a strong demand for pets relative to supply and where shelters like ours are strictly no kill operations. Our animals will go to their new homes spayed or neutered, UTD on shots and a clean bill of health from FL and NH. We are here to help everyone look for the perfect match for themselves and their family.
