My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kel!

Kel is a proud graduate of our Paws in Prison program and an absolute superstar when it comes to obedience. He has mastered all of his basic commands and knows many fun tricks, too! His inmate trainer put in months of consistent work, and Kel truly shines when given direction.

Kel’s story began in a tough place. He was chained outside from the time he was a small puppy until he was about a year old. Because of that, many everyday experiences were new to him when he came into our program. Despite his rough start, Kel has learned quickly and adapted beautifully with patience, structure, and positive training.

During his time living inside the prison, Kel did very well coexisting among more than 900 inmates. However, he is most comfortable in smaller, calmer settings where there’s not too much chaos or noise. He can handle some activity and moderate sounds, but loud or unpredictable environments make him uneasy.

For that reason, we’re looking for an adult-only home or one with older teens, and a calmer daily routine. Kel is a well-mannered, relaxed, and loyal dog who would thrive in a home that includes him in everyday life but doesn’t have constant commotion or lots of visitors.

He loves to train, adores his people, and truly wants to please. Kel will make an incredible companion for someone who enjoys spending time with their dog, working together, and giving him the stable, loving home he deserves.
