My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes:
Ever dreamed of having a cat without the 3 a.m. zoomies or the 5 a.m. "I'm starving!" alarms? Meet Mittens, the gentle, well-mannered sweetheart who will happily let you sleep in.
At 9 years old, Mittens is the very definition of a companion cat: calm, friendly, affectionate, and wonderfully easy to live with. She sleeps quietly through the night (right next to you, though you'll barely notice she's there!) and patiently waits for a respectable breakfast time. Clean, quiet, and -almost- impeccably behaved, she always uses her litter box and knows her name.
Mittens is independent but deeply loving. She'll softly greet you when you come home, rub against your leg, and ask for gentle head pets-rewarding you with delicate, endearing purrs. She loves being near her humans and keeping them company, but she's never needy or intrusive.
This sweet girl deserves the soft, safe forever home she's been waiting for. If you're looking for a calm, cuddly, easygoing soulmate who will make every day warmer, Mittens is your perfect match.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I lived with children in my previous home.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.

I have been known to shower my favorite people in love!

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

Mittens tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

A volunteer writes: Mittens is a star! Known as a friendly and outgoing cat who loves to play by herself and has experience living with dogs and children, I would just love the chance to be friends with her. Plus, she seems like she could really use one. I also want to extend my sympathy and be a listening ear as she sorts through the passing of her guardian and subsequently finding herself here at the shelter where things are noisy and big and different. I often see Mittens loafed with paws tucked, her face clearly explaining all the things her words can't, mostly that she isn't looking for a friend in me. Mittens will hop forward to sample any treats I offer and a friendship that looks like that is more than ok because we meet our friends where they are. Mittens would love a chance to show her personality and hopes to be with a forever family who will offer her that chance.
