My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Meow* I`m in a foster home. To meet me reach out to my foster caregiver at karenmalovrh@gmail.com

Magic is a cutie! She loves to play and receive chin scratches. She`s building up the nerve to crawl into my lap (it`s adorable!). I think she`s going to be a very snuggly a cat once she gets a little more comfortable. Magic came to HRA after her human passed. She was very afraid in shelter and not adjusting well, so she moved into foster care, where she promptly hid under my bed and stayed there for ten days.

But has Magic has made incredible progress in the past few weeks! Now she sleeps on the bed with me, she comes up to me to ask for chin scratches, and she loves to play! Her favorite is to play fetch with small mouse toys and chase after a wand toy. She really like a laser pointer, especially trying to chase it up the wall. She`s a vertical scratcher and prefers a cat tree to a scratch mat. Magic has not interacted with my cat yet, so I don`t know how she does with other animals. Magic needs a quiet safe space to get used to her new surroundings and family, but once she feels confident, she`ll be eager to bond with her new human

More about this shelter

At the Humane Rescue Alliance, we honor more than 150 years of commitment to protecting animals, supporting families, and advocating for positive change to create a world where all animals can thrive. HRA serves as a national leader and local champion for all animals.

With a people-focused, community-based approach, we treat every animal as an individual and emphasize specialized care for both animals and their families. Through our two campuses in the District of Columbia and New Jersey, we are the largest animal services provider in our region – touching the lives of tens of thousands of animals annually through direct rescue, care, and community-based services. Our teams find solutions to both small and big problems, from providing direct care to an animal in crisis to tackling systemic barriers to affordable, pet-friendly housing.
