As a Boston Terrier of a certain age, Mustache has the look of a distinguished canine gentleman. A dash of gray on the snout, ears at attention, important jowls. Don’t be fooled, though. He’s a dignified charmer AND a spry goofball inclined to hop into a lap, snuggle in next to a chi, and compete for tummy rubs like a puppy. He even gets the zoomies. Mostly he’s a sweet boy who loves love, attention and a peaceful place to call his own. He’s up for walks, manages stairs just fine, and probably would get along famously with older kids who can take a patient path to friendship. A little classy, a little kooky; you’re going to love this handsome guy.
Here's some notes from his foster:
Mustache is literally perfect. He came into our foster home and immediately took a liking to us. He wants nothing more than to snuggle or be held by his people. He is very social and friendly with people, and will eagerly jump up on you to be picked up or to sit on your lap. He likes to sit on the couch, go in bed or wrap himself in blankets. As I'm writing this, Mustache is sitting on my lap sleeping and getting belly rubs.
He is very food motivated and a good eater. He sits patiently for his meals and will lick his plate clean. He also likes treats and snacks, and if you are eating a human meal, will come and sit next to you with his cute face waiting for a sample himself. He also serves as a kitchen vacuum and is constantly sweeping the floors for any scraps.
He is fully potty trained! He lets us know when he wants to go out, and will go to the door. His current schedule is a walk at 7am, and then short walks outside around 12pm, 5pm and 9pm before bed. He spends most of the day napping, either somewhere in the house or on our lap while we work. He is able to sleep through the night just fine and will wake up when we wake up. He likes to snuggle with us in bed at night as well.
He loves to go on walks, and isn't fearful or anxious on busy streets. He is a snacker, so will try to find some street eats on his walk to scarf up so needs to be monitored a bit. He pulls a bit on leash, but at his age we give him a pass although he likely could be very motivated by treats. Despite his age, he has lots of energy and likes to romp around on grassy areas and is quite fast! He could easily go on a 30 minute walk with you. He also is good in public places, such as bars and coffee shops and would likely do fine out to dinner.
Mustache is also good with children! And is quick to adapt to new environments. We’ve taken him over to friends and family’s houses and he settles in quickly and warms up to strangers. He did very well with young kids (5 and 7) chasing him around and giving him lots of snuggles. They loved Mustache!
Mustache would be fine with or without a yard, and would prefer having some human companionship throughout the day although he is fine to be left home for a few hours too. He is also good in the car and will mostly sleep, but may try to come sit on your lap in the passenger seat or dig around a bit to get comfy.
He is good with other dogs, but prefers to coexist as opposed to play. Our 2 year old dog loves Mustache and will try to play. Mustache tolerates it up until a point then will bark to put him in his place. In general, he doesn't appear to be a big barker though, and only barks if another dog is too playful with him.
Mustache is waiting for his forever home and would love a home with people around or would do great going to an office with you!
