My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ginger: Your Next Best Friend is Ready for Adventure!

Ginger’s Story: More Than Meets the Eye

Prepare to have your heart stolen by Ginger, a magnificent, approximately 9-year-young American Staffordshire Terrier! Ginger is the definition of a gentle soul wrapped in a beautifully spunky package. She's not just looking for a home; she's looking for a family to share her abundant love and zest for life with.  Ginger is a testament to resilience and joy. While she has vision limitations and is essentially blind, this remarkable girl navigates the world with confidence and incredible spirit. Her other senses are finely tuned, and her enthusiasm for life means she never misses out on the fun!   A True Companion, Ginger has all the makings of the perfect companion dog:  Ginger did not have the best life prior to being adopted last year and has been loved since.  Sadly her mom is not able to keep her due to her own health struggelsl but wants us to find Ginger the best home.

• Personality Plus: She is super friendly, sweet, and never meets a stranger! Every person and dog she encounters quickly becomes her new best friend.

• Ready to Go: Ginger absolutely loves playing with other dogs. She is house trained, making the transition into your home a breeze.

• A-List Traveler: Got errands? Road trip? Ginger is a fan! She loves car rides and will happily be your co-pilot.

What makes Ginger's tail wag the most?

• Walks & Play: She adores going on walks and still has great spunk!

• Chew Queen: She enjoys quiet time with big dog bones and chew toys.

• Ultimate Treat: Her secret passion? A savory Chick-fil-A chicken nugget!   • A Note on Noise: Ginger is scared of thunderstorms and will need extra comfort and reassurance during loud weather events.  ginger is currently rocking a healthier lifestyle! She was around 70 lbs, but has been diligently working on a successful weight management program and is well on her way to her goal weight. Her commitment to her health shows her dedication to a long, happy life by your side.

The Perfect Home for Ginger  Ginger's biggest requirement is a loving family that loves to give attention and pets—she soaks it all up!   Due to her senior status and vision limitations, Ginger would greatly benefit from a calm home environment that is well-suited to meet the special care needs of an older dog. Due to her vision, she also needs a securely fenced-in yard to explore and play safely.

Ginger is an incredible companion waiting to fill your life with warmth, loyalty, and unforgettable moments. Her heart sees everything, and it's full of love just for you.

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
