SILK NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Silk Best Guess for Breed: Lab and shepherd mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of November 2025 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 34 lbs as of October 2025
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Silk would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Silk came into our care with an unhealed leg injury. She had a leg amputated and is now living happily and healthily as a tripod!
Silk is Looking For: Her forever home! Silk is a sato from Puerto Rico who is now seeking her forever home in the DC area. She's a young girl, hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet, and is eager to have her own humans for sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up! Dog school would be great, too, so she can show how super smart she is. |
Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and all the love and loyalty in her body. What do you say? Is this sweetie the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Silk offers best friend status in the best way. She loves going for walks, car rides, playing with her pals and stealing a smooch along the way. She's quick to learn and displayed no signs of separation anxiety. She did have some guarding behaviors but with training, she'll move past those in a flash.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
