My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes: If you want a cuddly nap partner, Dutchess is your girl.  She's an affectionate, laid back lady with occasional bursts of adorable puppy energy.  While on walks, she's happiest when she can sniff everything to catch up on neighborhood happenings.  She's mostly non-reactive to other dogs on the street or in the building halls.  If anything, she wants to meet other pups and will look at them with ears perked and tail wagging.  She shows little to no interest in small children and will happily accept pets from almost anyone.

My foster also writes: Dutchess is the sweetest, smartest lady on the block. Her favorite place is curled up by your side or out for a walk in the park (warm weather only, please- she is a lady of comfort). While she doesn't love having her coat put on, once it's on she will happily walk outside for exercise or to do her business. Once the ears goes back and she jump turns in the other direction, she's cold and wants to go inside. She's extremely lovable and loving.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I lived with children in my previous home.

I need a home without cats or small animals.

I need a home where there are no other dogs.

I have been known to shower my favorite people in love!

I am finding the shelter a bit overwhelming. Outside one-on-one I am a great big cuddle bug.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I am playful and cute!

I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.

My boroughbreaker writes: Dutchess was scared at first but warmed up and had a really fun day! She enjoyed treats and pets and enjoyed quiet time on the couch. She was sweet, gentle, and calm.

A Volunteer Wrote: We hate it when we see a dog back in the shelter for the second time, and all the more so when they are older, and most of all when they are as extraordinary as Dutchess, who has lived peaceably with cats, dogs, and children. She's taking being back here in remarkable stride, always happy to see the staff and volunteers and so eager to accept our displays of affection, which we lavish on his loving, gentle girl. But there's only so much that can be done in a loud, overcrowded shelter, and this remarkable soul has so earned a home to call her own for the rest of her life!
