My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mini arrived to the shelter after being found on her own, underweight and very visibly a former momma dog. Her foster says: "As a volunteer dog walker, she stole my heart and has brought us so much joy in foster the last 5 months. She’s so snuggly, playful, and funny - greeting us with happy howls and lots of wiggles. She gets along well with our resident dog and seems to want to play with other dogs we encounter, but would need a meet & greet to make sure any fur siblings are a good match. She’s been through a lot and deserves a great home."

Reach out on her link to connect with her foster and make plans for a meet up.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
